It's Friday! How about a drink before dinner? Before Dinner Drinks!








I know that everyone talks about drinks after a night out or while entertaining at home. A drink before heading out for the night puts an early pep in  your step, gets your palate ready for a great meal and gets the night started off to a great start!

Here are picks that can be used as signature drinks for entertaining, or a great drink before heading out to have fun.


Boston Sour
1 oz lime juice
2 ounces blended Scotch whiskey
1 egg white
1 teaspoon superfine sugar or sirop de gomme
lemon slice
cocktail cherry
Shake the lemon or lime juice, whiskey, egg white, and sugar or syrup over ice cubes and strain into a cocktail glass or sour glass. Finish wih the slice of lemon and a cocktail cherry.

Juan Collins
cracked ice
2 ounces white tequila
1 ounce lemon juice
1 teaspoon sugar syrup
sparkling mineral water
lemon slice
Half fill a chilled highball glass with cracked ice and pour in the white tequila, lemon juice and sugar syrup. Fill with sparkling mineral water and stir gently. Dress with the slice of lemon.


Colleen
2 ounces Irish Whiskey
1 ounce Irish Mist
1 ounce triple sec
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Shake the Irish whiskey, Irish mist, triple sec and lemon juice vigorously over ice cubes, until well frosted. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Rolls Royce
4 to 6 ice cubes
3 ounces gin
1 ounce dry vermouth
1 ounce sweet vermouth
1/2 teaspoon Benedictine
Put the ice cubes into a mixing glass. Pour the gin, dry vermouth, sweet vermouth and Benedictine over them. Stir well to mix and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.


Moscow Mule
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce lime juice
cracked ice
ginger beer
lime slice
Shake the vodka and lime juice over ice cubes until well frosted. Half fill a chilled high ball glass with ice and strain the cocktail over it. Fill with ginger beer and dress with the slice of lime.

Victory
2 ounces Pernod
1 ounce grenadine
Sparkling water
Shake the Pernod and grenadine vigorously over ice until well frosted. Strain into a chilled highball glass and fill with the sparkling mineral water.

Orange Gin Sling
2 ounces gin
4 dashes orange bitters
Pour the gin into a cocktail glass then carefully splash on the orange bitters







Grand Duchess
10 ice cubes, cracked
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce triple sec
3 ounces cranberry juice
2 ounces orange juice
Put half of the cracked ice into a mixing glass. Pour the vodka,triple sec, cranberry juice and orange juice over the ice and stir well to mix. Half fill a chilled low ball glass with the rest of the cracked Ice and strain the cocktail over it.

Sapphire Martini
4 to 6 ice cubes
2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce blue curacao
cocktail cherry
Put the cracked ice into a mixing glass and pour the gin and blue curacao over it. Stir well to mix then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Decorate with the cocktail cherry.

Cordless Screwdriver
2 ounces vodka, chilled
orange wedge
superfine sugar
Pour the chilled vodka into a shot glass. Dip a wedge of orange into the superfine sugar. Dawn the vodka in one gulp and suck on the orange!
